Our history

Serving the most underserved villages in Kenya, the first branch o

superior libraries is located at Kionyo, Bassi constituency, Masige East ward, Kenya. This library was established at Dr. James Misoka’s Personal resident home. The branch will provide access to a diversified collection of all of the kindergarten, primary school, and secondary school pieces of printed materials and in future it will provide audiovisual, and electronic resources that addresses the needs of the students and members of this community. With the help of donors, the superior library intends to introduce an online catalog, where users can search the collection from onsite computer terminals. Superior libraries’ librarians will offer a variety of free programs that help students learn to use their library branch.

The purpose of superior libraries is to provide learning materials that will provide a source of information and stimulate students' acquisition of factual knowledge that will offer lifelong learning opportunities to all members of the community. For children and adults, this library will foster a love of reading, provide a wide range of materials at various levels of sophistication with a diversity of appeal and different points of view, build intellectual self-confidence and encourage life-long learning that will help community members who seek information and ideas to become better-informed citizens of Kenya.  Superior libraries branches shall operate as a community library open to the general public on a nonprofit basis consonant with the provision set forth in its article of incorporation and with the prevailing public law; and it shall be competent to receive donations of money, books, computer, Sewing machines, photocopier, scanner, printer, phone, land, and other property for the uses and purposes of the library.

Superior libraries depend on donations. Your donation will support effective solutions to these underserved community’s educational challenges, of which school holidays back slide is among the most harmful. Fortunately, through your donation, we can prevent holidays back slide by nurturing students’ reading skills throughout the year and encouraging them to spend time at superior libraries during school holiday.
